Born and raised in Central Alberta, Doug cares deeply about the region.
Throughout his over 40 year career in health care, Doug has gained an understanding of what matters to patients and families in Alberta. He has worked as a registered nurse, teaching and administering at numerous institutions including Alberta Hospital, Red Deer College, Grande Prairie College and Red Deer Regional Hospital.
Doug is also a committed volunteer, devoting time to the many causes he cares about including health promotion, economic diversity, environmental sustainability and rural development. He currently serves on the Ponoka Agricultural Society Board, the Ponoka Agricultural Event Centre Society Board, and is a public member of the Alberta Health Services- Mental Health Appeals Board.
Doug holds psychiatric nursing and registered nursing diplomas, an undergraduate degree in nursing, a graduate degree in education administration and a graduate degree in health promotion studies. He and his wife live on an acreage in the County of Ponoka, and together they have raised four children.
